About: PR gal in my twenties. As soon as I figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up it became obsolete. Instead of writing for a newspaper I get to write here. My job is exciting and wonderful but exhausting at times, and when I do have the energy to remove my rear from the couch, I enjoy drinking all the wines, shopping for thousands of identical cardigans and striped items, cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide, chasing after my insane English Bulldog, Denny, singing and dancing along with the Avett Brothers, and having as much fun as possible with my friends and family. Sometimes I think about exercising. And then I grab a bag of chips.

GET AT ME

I am one hundred and twenty percent smitten with my engagement ring (even more so in person than I was with the photos of it in its listing.) And as I’ve crept onto random boards or threads on wedding sites (some brides are so intense that it scares me, but random good info has been found there,) I’ve realized some people are wary of a couple different things such as 1) buying your ring online 2) having an engagement ring that used to belong to someone else or 3) they are way too into the C’s (cut, clarity, all that crap. Sorry, I guess you can tell where my views lie.)
For me, I loved this ring because it was different, and beautiful, and older, and it didn’t bother me that the person who had it before might have killed their husband or something. I had previously sent Blake pictures and links for rings were the typical super clear, 1 carat or bigger diamond set in a halo with pave diamonds all around the band. (Absolutely no offense to you if that’s your ring, as I clearly loved it as well.) But it turned out that this ring fit who we were so much better.  And I thought that may be the case for some of you guys, and wanted to share.
If anyone is looking for some gorgeous antique jewelry (engagement rings are by far not all they have!) then you should definitely take a look at the Etsy store where my ring came from. Everything she has is always so beautiful and unique. This week my favorites include this guy, this guy and this guy. (Also, I really want to message her and ask what color nail polish she wears in photos of her jewelry. Is that weird?)

  2. awkwardflamingo said: As someone who has a ring that is also antique and on the “smaller” side, I totally get where you’re coming from. I actually struggled a lot when we got engaged because most people said I could “trade up” to something bigger and that hurt. I love it.
