Will Smith - Switch
I just found this gem in my iTunes and it made my night. Wow.
As a treat to myself and as a way to psych myself up for three races in the next month and a half, I am looking into buying a Bondi Band. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but May and June are pretty damn hot in Alabama, and I have had the fortune of recently moving to the most humid point of the state. Considering I sweat 3x as much as anyone I’ve ever gone to a class with, I have to keep the sweat off my face somehow. Now I just need to pick a design. Wanna help?

Because sometimes I need to be reminded.

Because I love the Crimson Tide.

Because this sounds like a pretty solid life.

Because let’s be honest. I would.
What do you think? I want to order it this week to make sure it’s here in the next 2 weeks before my next race.
I promise I’ll be back tomorrow, but this week has been a whirwind of moving, starting the new job (which I love so far!), unpacking and organizing so we don’t turn into that episod of Sex and the City where they fight over half used sticks of speed stick, playing with the puppy, shopping and resting.
Life is hectic but good and I can’t wait to tell you guys all about it!
THIS.

Clearly that cookie cake hasn’t caught up to me quite yet.
I have gotten this question from a couple people and friends now, so I think in a little bit I will do a post on this. Stay tuned!
Since my 5k last month I have seriously slacked off on the running. I thought losing weight before the wedding I’m in in July would be motivation enough to keep losing weight, but apparently not. I need a race. I need a deadline. I need something to train for. So here’s my somewhat ambitious race schedule for the next 2 months:
- May 8th, 2010 - 7th Annual Bulldog Run, 2 mile race in Mobile

- May 22nd, 2010 - Run for Wishes, 5K through an amusement park in Birmingham that benefits the Make A Wish foundation!
- June 5th, 2010 - Firemens 5K for MD, 5K race in Birmingham to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association. I am still deciding on this one but I will be in Tuscaloosa/Birmingham that weekend anyway for a wedding shower on Sunday.

- September 4th, 2010 - Ross Bridge 8K in Birmingham. I hope I will be well trained enough to run this one easily and be ready for a 10K in October or November. I’d like to run one before the year’s end!
kelly’s face does not approve of your shenanigans
i’m exercising my face muscles as we speak. think blue steel, but with angrier eyes. so, like this:
(thanks to katie for modeling. my version is too lethal for the interwebz.)
sometimes i’m amazed at how small my mouth can get. and how fierce i can look.
I went to Target tonight and got $82 worth of stuff for only $19 after all my coupons. I saved over $63! That’s crazy! Both the cashier and the lady behind me in line were shocked when she scanned the last coupon in.
I came home and added up my savings since mid-February for just the receipts I can find. A lot of the early ones got tossed but now I keep them in a folder for things like rebates and to keep track of my savings.
The grand total saved in less than two full months came to more than $550! Most of what I save money on is household products or personal care items. I have enough tampons, sticks of deodorant, tubes of toothpaste, laundry detergent, automatic air fresheners, cough drops, Excedrin, etc., to last me at least through the summer.
It’s hard to believe that it was not too long ago that I paid full price for things like CFL light bulbs that I got for free tonight. So far I am loving it!
You may have noticed that I haven’t talked much about how my workouts and runs have been going lately. It seems that once I finished my race two weeks ago I decided to slack off in that department. I have read a lot of people’s blogs that say they have lost a noticeable but not all that large amount of weight and then slide back into their old bad habits. I thought surely I was simply more motivated than them and never thought I’d be sitting here doing exactly what they were doing.
Trying to juggle packing and visiting with all my friends here in town before I move while also sticking (somewhat) to the routine that I so enjoy of television, shopping and giggles that I have with sister has been hard. The past two nights I have been gone from 8 am til at least midnight. I grab food on the go. I am eating more happy meals and making less of my own meals. I don’t drink nearly enough water.
I know I need to ramp up my efforts but I keep trying to put it off until after I move. I know that is just an excuse, though, so I’m going to start now. Once I finish this Diet Coke I am drinking water for the rest of the day. I will go to the gym tonight (hopefully to spin class!) I have been sneaking into the rec with a friend’s student ID and finally got to reunite with spin last week, but when I tried to go Monday the class was full. Instead of doing something else, I left and went and ate chips and cheese dip. Tonight I will move my body, burn some calories, do something other than sit on the couch for at least a little while. I will cook some dinner for myself and it will include vegetables.
Maybe putting all this out there will make me more accountable.
Do any of you guys have tips for breaking out of a rut like this?
